ABOUT Cameron MacKenzie

Cameron was born in Humansdorp, South Africa. Growing up his time was split between a farm in the Eastern cape, Stellenbosch and the surfing town of Jeffrey's bay. During his time in Stellenbosch Cameron was introduced to Gymnastics at the Van Der Stal Gymnastics Club. At the age of nine Cameron relocated to the UK with his family, where he took up gymnastics at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club - training alongside World and Olympic medallists Louis Smith and Daniel Keatings. Cameron was selected to become part of the Great Britain Squad and enjoyed a successful junior career, gaining crucial experience from the team. In 2013 Cameron made the decision to compete for South Africa. In 2014 Cameron established himself as the top gymnast in South Africa, as well as finishing 4th in the African Championships and competing in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. During this time he moved out to Centurion in South Africa to be better involved with his teammates and the gymnastics scene there. Cameron is now studying and training at Loughborough, where he is working towards his goals of competing in the Olympics and graduating his BSc in Architectural Engineering and Design Management.
